This in-person course offers practical guidance on conducting fair and effective hearings, navigating HUD requirements, and making well-supported decisions. Whether you’re new to the role or looking to sharpen your expertise, this training is a valuable professional development opportunity for Minnesota NAHRO members.
This two-day training is designed for hearing officers, hearing panel members, managers, and policy staff involved in Public Housing and Housing Choice
Voucher hearings.
Brought to you by the national experts at Nan McKay, participants will gain a
practical understanding of hearing regulations, PHA policies, grievance
procedures, and reasonable accommodation considerations. Through
hands-on exercises and case studies, attendees will practice reviewing cases
and making decisions using applicable regulations and PHA policies.
Learning Outcomes
- Apply HUD regulations and PHA policies to real hearing scenarios
- Understand effective hearing and grievance procedures
- Learn when and how to work with 504 coordinators, Legal Aid, and advocacy groups
- Conduct fair, organized appeals and hearings
- Practice writing hearing decisions using regulations and PHA policies
- Review Housing Choice Voucher informal review and hearing requirements
- Explore public housing grievance and hearing regulations for applicants and tenants
