Tell Congress to Support Homelessness Interventions!
This week, urge Congress to adequately fund and support lifesaving homelessness interventions. On a given night in 2023, roughly 653,100 people experienced homelessness in America—a staggering 12% increase over the previous year. In the U.S. between 2015 and 2023, homelessness cases grew by 48%, or 83,300 people. This is unacceptable.
Tell Congress to provide adequate funding for Homeless Assistance programs and to make the Emergency Housing Voucher (EHV) permanent. EHVs are a critical tool PHAs use to address increases in homelessness. Making EHVs permanent instead of letting them “sunset” when households move off assistance would ensure that this tool remains available to house the homeless in our communities.
The current spike in homelessness is just one way the affordable housing crisis impacts our nation. Send a letter this week urging Congress to invest in key programs like Emergency Housing Vouchers and Homeless Assistance Grants to help PHAs safely house those at risk of experiencing homelessness.
